Understanding ESG

What is ESG?

GSS is an evaluation framework that measures the performance of a company according to three fundamental dimensions:

E — Environmental

concerns the impact of the company on the natural environment. This includes CO₂ emissions management, energy consumption, waste management, natural resource use and adaptation to climate change. An environmentally efficient company reduces its ecological footprint while optimizing its operational costs.

s — social

Evaluates how the company manages its relationships with its employees, suppliers, customers and the communities it operates in. This includes working conditions, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, respect for human rights and the social impact of company activities.

G — Governance

Analyzes how the company is directed and controlled. This encompasses transparency, business ethics, board composition, anti-corruption, data protection and compliance with applicable regulations

Together, these three pillars provide a comprehensive framework for assessing a company’s sustainability and responsibility — and guiding its strategic decisions towards long-term, stable and responsible growth.

The context

ESG is no longer an option in Europe

European regulations are changing rapidly. The CSRD Directive, which entered into force in 2024, is forcing an increasing number of companies to publish detailed sustainability reports. European green taxonomy redefines what is considered sustainable economic activity. Companies that anticipate these changes today are building a sustainable competitive advantage for tomorrow.

CSRD — Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive

The European directive which obliges companies to publish detailed information on their environmental and social impacts. Are you ready?

European green taxonomy

A classification system that defines sustainable economic activities. A key tool to guide your investments and reassure your financial partners.

Growing expectations of partners

Your customers, suppliers and investors are increasingly asking for concrete evidence of your ESG commitment. Not to act is to risk losing markets.
